About Anal Basics

Search almost anything about anal and you get two kinds of results. Porn, which is a fantasy and knows it. Or a clinical page that reads like it was written by someone who’d rather not be discussing this at all.

Neither is much help to the person who’s actually curious, slightly nervous, and just wants a straight answer. That gap is why this site exists.

What we’re trying to do

Answer the questions people are too embarrassed to ask out loud, calmly, for adults, without pretending it’s either shameful or a extreme sport.

Four things guide everything here. Slow is the whole trick, because almost every bad experience traces back to rushing. Pain is information, not a toll you pay to earn the good part. Nobody has to do anything, and deciding it’s not for you is a complete answer. And honest beats exciting — when the real answer is boring, you’ll get the boring answer.

Who’s writing this

Not doctors. Not therapists. Not sex educators with letters after our names, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise.

We’re a small team that’s spent years in and around the adult lifestyle industry, listening to the same questions come up over and over and watching the same bad answers circulate. This site is the version we wish had existed. Practical, calm, and written like one adult talking to another.

Which also means: anything genuinely medical is a conversation for a doctor, not for a website. If something hurts in a way that worries you, or doesn’t stop, go talk to someone qualified. We’d rather say that plainly than have you take a blog’s word for it.

The part most sites bury

This site doesn’t sell anything. But it isn’t independent either, and you should know that up front.

Anal Basics is run by P5 Creative LLC, which also owns Wicked Boutique (adult apparel) and SexTowels. When we link to either of them, we’re linking to a business we own. We’ll say so every time.

What that doesn’t mean: padding the advice to sell more. The honest answer to “what do I need for this” is almost nothing, and you’ll find us saying that on the site itself. Advice that only works if you buy something isn’t advice.

Who this is for

Consenting adults. That’s the whole list, and it isn’t negotiable.

Curious and nervous, experienced and looking to fix something, or one half of a couple trying to work out how to bring it up. All welcome. Nobody here is going to talk you into anything.

Got a question we haven’t answered? Tell us. Half the site exists because someone asked.
